Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

It took another solid outing from Coyote pitcher Ryan Harris coupled with ten hits for Edinburg to clinch the number one seed for the 2006 United League Playoffs. The Coyotes would defeat the Dillas 5-2 for their second straight victory, their 52nd overall.

It looked to be a good night for the Dillas and starting pitcher Kyle Allen (4-3) after Amarillo would put up the first run of the night in the top of the first off of a Carlos Mendoza double that would score Marcus Lewis from third. The one run lead for the Dillas and pitcher Allen would disappear quickly as a throwing error by third baseman Danny Bravo would allow to Rodney Medina and Eli Albertson to come around and score.

When the Coyotes put up two more runs in the bottom of the second, Allen's night would be over only pitching 1.1 innings. Reliever Mike Kesten would come in for the Dillas and pitch the next six innings allowing one run off of four hits while fanning six.

Edinburg starter Ryan Harris (9-6) would campaign for pitcher of the year throwing seven innings allowing two runs while fanning six. Kelly Casares would come on in the ninth to close out the ballgame earning his sixth save of the season.

Taylor Allen (9-4) takes the mound Thursday for Amarillo against Edinburg starter Neomar Flores (8-5). Game time is set for 7:05 on the final Thirsty-Thursday of the regular season.

The Edinburg Coyotes are part of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League is in its inaugural season this summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB begins it first ever postseason on August 26th with two best out of three first round series. The League Championship Series will begin on August 30th.
