Edinburg Rallies to Defeat Colts, 6-5

Edinburg, Texas --- The Edinburg Roadrunners scored three runs in the last two innings to come from behind a beat the Colts, 6-5, Tuesday night at Edinburg Stadium.
Centerfielder Vincent Blue cut Edinburg's deficit to one with a leadoff homer in the seventh, and then first baseman Cristobal Santana and right fielder Tim Battle both scored in the eighth inning.
Santana drew a one-out walk and scored the tying run on an RBI triple by Battle. A wild pitch by Colts' reliever Michael Hacker allowed Battle to score the go-ahead run. Hacker (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on a hit, a walk and a wild pitch in an inning of work.
Starter Mike Hart settled for a no decision after giving up four runs, three earned, on eight hits through seven innings.
The Colts led 5-3 entering the sixth, courtesy of a three-run fifth inning. Shortstop Ryan Hutson, right fielder Davis Page and second baseman Jason Diaz all scored against Edinburg starter Miguel Martinez. Page and first baseman Daryl Jones had RBI singles, and Diaz scored on an error.
Martinez gave up five runs, four earned, on 12 hits in 7 2/3 innings. He was taken out with the bases loaded in favor of Japanese reliever Tetsuya Iwasaki. He recorded one out and earned the win. For Iwasaki (1-0), it was his first win in the United States.
Roadrunners' closer Julio Castro worked around a pair of walks in the ninth to record his sixth save.
The win improves Edinburg to 27-18, while the loss drops San Angelo to 22-22. This four-game series continues Wednesday evening at Edinburg Stadium.
