FORT WORTH - After a day off on a Monday, the Prairie Dogs and Cats got a partial off day on Tuesday night. With Abilene leading 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning, the heavy rain began to fall at LaGrave Field. Because inclement weather looms in the remainder of Tuesday's forecast, the game will resume on Friday evening at 6:05.
Fort Worth an Abilene are in the midst of an 11-game set that will move to Walt Driggers' Field on Wednesday and Thursday. When the teams return to Fort Worth on Friday for the final leg of the series, they will resume Tuesday night's game in full beginning at 6:05. At the conclusion of the contest, the teams will take the field and begin a seven inning affair as part of an unconventional double header.
The Prairie Dogs have won three of the first five games in the series and have won six of seven games played at LaGrave Field this season.
Billy Petrick started the game for the Dogs opposite lefty James Giulietti. The Prairie Dogs scored the game's first run after Adam De La Garza reached on a Shelby Ford error and scored on Danny Gonzalez's R.B.I. single to right in the second inning.
The Cats took the lead in the lead in the bottom of the second frame as Brandon Jones cranked his ninth homer of the season over the left-field fence, giving Fort Worth a 2-1 advantage.
In the top of the third, Kyle Nichols drove in a pair of runs with a double into the left- field corner, and the Dogs regained the lead, 3-2.
Petrick struck out RJ Harris to start the home half of the third inning, and Jon Dziomba followed with a double to right field.
The game will resume with the Dogs leading 3-2 and a runner on second base with one out in the bottom of the third inning.
