ECHL Welcomes Colorado Eagles to League

The Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces will announce their 2011-2012 season schedule on Wednesday, and it will include a new conference opponent. On Tuesday, the ECHL announced that the Colorado Eagles have joined the ECHL's Western Conference, and will begin play in the league in the 2011-2012 season. The Eagles will enter their ninth season of professional hockey, after having spent the last eight seasons as a member of the Central Hockey League. Earlier this off-season it was announced that the Victoria Salmon Kings were departing from the ECHL. With Colorado's addition, it keeps the Western Conference at eight teams. Alaska and Colorado will once again be joined by Bakersfield, Idaho, Las Vegas, Ontario, Stockton, and Utah to form the conference. The Eagles are based out of Loveland, CO and play their home games in the 5,289 seat Budweiser Event Center. Joining the Eagles this summer are the expansion Chicago Express, bringing the total number of ECHL teams for the 2011-2012 season to 20. Details on the Aces upcoming schedule will be released to the public on Wednesday.
