ECHL Announces Fines, Suspensions

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Monday announced the following fines and suspensions.

Florida's Vandergunst fined, suspended

Florida's Mitch Vandergunst has been suspended for four games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #609, Florida at Greenville, on Feb. 2.

Vandergunst was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for cross-checking under Rule #59.5 at 0:32 of the first period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Vandergunst will miss Florida's games vs. Adirondack (Feb. 6, Feb. 8 and Feb. 9) and vs. Orlando (Feb. 13).

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Worcester's Vanier fined, suspended

Worcester's Alexis Vanier has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #608, Worcester at Newfoundland, on Feb. 2.

Vanier was assessed a match penalty for fighting under Rule #46.15 at 19:55 of the third period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Vanier will miss Worcester's games vs. Greenville (Feb. 8) and vs. Wheeling (Feb. 9).

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.
