
Eastman's Gem Lifts Fightins to Victory

Chris Sharpe's first home run of the season made the difference in Friday's contest. His solo shot in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Reading Fightin Phils a 2-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox).Colton Eastman threw a quality start, not allowing a run in six innings of work.
Logan O'Hoppe had two hits and scored the game's first run. Jonathan Guzman reached base twice and batted in O'Hoppe in the fourth inning.
Reading got the leadoff batter on base in the first two innings but couldn't push a run across the plate. The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning.
O'Hoppe led off the bottom of the fourth with a double. He advanced to third on Kevin Vicuna's groundout and scored on Guzman's RBI single.
Portland equalized in the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run but Reading retook the lead in the bottom half. Sharpe went deep for his first home run of the season, which made the game 2-1.
After a scoreless eighth inning on both sides, the Sea Dogs had two base runners with one out. Reading's closer Brian Marconi finished the game with a strikeout and pop out.
Colton Eastman started on the mound for Reading. He pitched six scoreless innings and gave up five hits. The right-hander struck out four batters in his second strong start for the Fightins.
Mike Adams pitched the seventh inning and earned his fifth win of the season. He gave up a solo shot but induced two groundouts and a flyout to send the Fightins back to bat.
Ofriedy Gomez struck out the three of the four batters he faced in the top of the eighth inning.
Marconi collected his eighth save of the season. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning without giving up a hit and struck out two batters.
The Fightins will play at FirstEnergy Stadium next on June 18 at 6:45 PM.
