San Jose's Record in May
The Quakes are 29-29-16 all-time in May in MLS play.
Earthquakes 2, Montreal Impact 2; May 4, 2013; Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
The Earthquakes rallied from a two-goal deficit to draw the Eastern Conference-leading Montreal Impact 2-2. San Jose out-shot the Impact 16-6 and had a 14-1 advantage in corner kicks, but had to settle for a tie with the top team in the East. Midfielder Sam Cronin sparked the comeback with an assist and a stoppage-time equalizer, his first goal of the season and second of his four-year career with the Earthquakes. The Earthquakes controlled the early tempo of the game, but found themselves behind when Impact midfielder Justin Mapp unloaded from 35 yards out in the 34th minute for his first goal of the season. The veteran winger would connect again just two minutes into the second half, getting on the other end of a cross from forward Andrew Wenger for an easy tap-in at the far post. Rookie forward Adam Jahn pulled one back in the 59th with his third goal of the season. Marvin Chavez located Chris Wondolowski at the top of the box, sliding a pass that was quickly redirected to the feet of Cronin. The center mid calmly took a touch and then slipped a through ball on the run to Jahn, who trapped and buried his shot toward the far post. The Earthquakes waited until stoppage time to find their game-tying goal. Walter Martinez sent a ball into the mix that found Wondolowski open with his back to the goal. Wondolowski headed a pass back to Cronin near the edge of the area where the former Wake Forest product took a touch and fired through traffic and past the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Troy Perkins to tie the game.

The former Hermann Trophy winner - awarded to the top college soccer player in the country - came on for Marvin Chavez in the 76th minute, his first MLS appearance since joining the Earthquakes through a weighted lottery on Sept. 11, 2012. After a standout career at Wake Forest, Tracy made a move to Europe with Denmark's Aalborg BK. However, he only made a handful of appearances during his overseas experience from 2009-11 due to knee injuries. Prior to Saturday's match, Tracy's last first-team game came on Dec. 5, 2009 in a 2-0 Aalborg loss against Sonderjyske (1,246 days or 3 years, 4 months and 29 days).
Martinez Makes MLS Debut, Records First Assist
Honduran World Cup veteran Walter Martinez had a pair of firsts in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Montreal. Not only did the 31-year-old midfielder make his MLS debut when he subbed on for Rafael Baca in the 62nd minute but he also recorded his first career MLS assist. The helper was a clutch one, eventually setting up a game-tying goal after his pass to Chris Wondolowski was redirected for Sam Cronin at the top of the area. Cronin buried the shot and Martinez picked up one of two assists on the play. "Pery" Martinez signed with the Earthquakes on March 15, 2013 after suiting up for Chongqing (China) in 2012.
Cronin Scores Second-Career Earthquakes Goal
Veteran midfielder Sam Cronin scored his second career goal with the Earthquakes and had an assist to rally San Jose to a 2-2 draw against the Montreal Impact on Saturday. Cronin had the final pass to Adam Jahn on the rookies' 59th-minute goal and capped the comeback with a well-placed shot from the edge of the area in second-half stoppage time. His first goal in an Earthquakes uniform was also a big one, helping the club draw even at three apiece before Chris Wondolowski scored a game winner in a thrilling 4-3 win against the LA Galaxy on June 30, 2012 at Stanford Stadium. Cronin is in his fourth season with the Earthquakes after joining them on June 10, 2010 in a trade with Toronto FC for allocation money.
