Misc. Notes

Johnson Scores Against Argentina

San Jose Earthquakes forward Ryan Johnson scored his first international goal for Jamaica on Wednesday in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Argentina. Johnson nearly drew a penalty in the early going after blowing by Argentine defenders on a run that covered half the field. Johnson appealed that he was dragged down in the area, but the referee felt otherwise. Early in the second half, Johnson was the recipient of a cross by Lovel Palmer that found him just inside the eighteen. His snap header back across goal caught the Argentine goalkeeper by surprise as it snuck in off the back post. Johnson was greeted by his exuberant teammates on the sideline, his goal putting the Reggae Boyz up 1-0 at the time. To view the match highlights, click here.
