San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes (7-15-10; 31 pts.) will host Minnesota United FC (13-13-6; 45 pts.) at PayPal Park in San Jose, Calif. tonight at 7 p.m. PT. San Jose's final home match of 2022 will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050 (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).
The match will feature a celebration of 15-year MLS veteran Shea Salinas, who recently announced his decision to retire at season's end. Salinas played for the Earthquakes for 13 seasons and is the team's all-time leader in assists (50).
Cristian Espinoza currently has 14 assists in 2022, tied for the most in a single season in Earthquakes history (Eddie Lewis - 1997, 1999). With two matches remaining, Espinoza has an opportunity to set a new club record.
Minnesota United FC is in the seventh and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, just two points ahead of eighth-place Real Salt Lake. After a sparkling 8-1-2 run in July and August, Minnesota has failed to win any of its last five matches (0-4-1) and scored just two total goals in that span.
