San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will host a community event at the Morgan Hill Outdoor Soccer Complex on Saturday, June 3 from 5-8 p.m. to attempt to break the current Official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest soccer lesson. The event, presented by BODYARMOR, is free and open to adults and kids five years and older. To register, click here.
All players will receive a complimentary BODYARMOR beverage, and the first 1,200 participants will receive an Official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS t-shirt and an adidas soccer ball. Led by Quakes legend Shea Salinas, the event will consist of a 30-minute lesson that will cover the fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting.
"This is going to be a fun way for the soccer community to come together, have fun, and attempt to break an Official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title," said former Earthquakes player Shea Salinas. "I'm really excited to coach this lesson and be part of an unforgettable event in Bay Area soccer history."
The Official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest soccer lesson is currently held in Woodlea, Australia with 835 participants.
The Earthquakes will continue to have a strong presence in the Gilroy and Morgan Hill communities throughout 2023 through community events, watch parties and other activities. The community engagement in this area is part of the club's focus on growing the sport at the grassroots level ahead of the club's 50th anniversary in 2024 and the FIFA World Cup in 2026. The Earthquakes kicked off this effort earlier this year in Salinas and will continue to engage numerous Northern California communities in the coming months and years. More information about future events and giveaways will be announced later.
