SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes (0-4-3; 3 pt.) will host Seattle Sounders FC (2-3-1; 7 pts.) at PayPal Park tonight at 7 p.m. PT. The match will be broadcast nationally on TUDN, UniMas and Twitter (English) and aired on the radio via KNBR 1050 (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).
San Jose is entering their first regular season match under interim head coach Alex Covelo. Covelo led San Jose to a 5-0 win over Bay Cities FC in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night.
Saturday will also feature the Hall of Fame induction ceremony for former head coach Frank Yallop, who led the team to two MLS Cup championships (2001, 2003) and one Supporters' Shield (2012) during his eight and a half years at the helm. Read more here.
The Quakes will look to build on their four-game unbeaten streak at home in all competitions. The club earned three consecutive come-from-behind draws at PayPal Park in MLS play before Tuesday's Open Cup victory. Forward Jeremy Ebobisse is tied for the league lead with five goals and midfielder Jan Gregus is tied for the league lead with five assists.
Seattle began the season with consecutive losses before going 2-1-1 in their last four regular season contests, most recently falling at home to Inter Miami CF 1-0. The club is also competing in the Concacaf Champions League and will play the first leg of the Final on Wednesday, April 27.
