Earthquakes Host A&W Root Beer Float Night this Saturday

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will host the Philadelphia Union on Saturday July 9 at Buck Shaw Stadium at 7:30 p.m. PT. The match will feature the first annual Root Beer Float Night event presented by A&W. All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Red Cross and the ALS Association. In addition, 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a limited edition Earthquakes mug.

"We are excited about our new partnership with the San Jose Earthquakes, and we are proud that charities such as the Red Cross of Silicon Valley and the ALS Association will benefit greatly because of the joint venture," said Sky Pace, Region Cold Drink Manager for the 7up Bottling Company of the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group. "Not to mention, it should be a lot of fun for everyone involved."

Fans will meet players and local celebrities while enjoying $3 Root Beer Floats during the first annual event. The local celebrities include San Jose Sharks Broadcaster Dan Rusanowsky, Earthquakes Sideline Reporter Dan Dibley, Earthquakes Play-by-Play Announcer Jim Kozimor, KRON's Marty Gonzalez, SJFD Chief William McDonald, SJPD Chief Chris Moor, SCPD Lt. Mike Sellers, 49ers Goldrush Girls, Miss Santa Clara, Councilmember Kalra, Councilmember Rocha, Councilmember Constant, and Councilmember Chu.

"The Root Beer Float Night is one of what we hope to be many benefits in the partnership. These types of events set a wonderful example of what is possible when big players get together to do great things. It is a win for everyone, and hopefully the night will be a game winner for the Earthquakes," said Pace.
