San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has acquired defensive midfielder Judson on a permanent transfer from Brazil's Tombense and signed him to a multi-year contract using Targeted Allocation Money.
"Two things that make Judson so important to this club are his work ethic on the field and his positive influence inside the locker room," said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli. "He has also adapted quickly to MLS and assumed increasing responsibility as the season progressed. Judson has been a professional in every sense of the word and we never hesitated to make his transfer permanent."
Judson, 26, was acquired on a season-long loan prior to the 2019 season. He made 23 starts in 27 total regular season appearances for San Jose, scoring one goal. Judson recorded 3.5 tackles per match, second most in Major League Soccer and most among midfielders.
He was one of just three Quakes newcomers to start at least half of the club's 34 matches in 2019, helping the side more than triple their win total from one season prior.
