Early Scoring Gives way to Strong Pitching in 7-6 Marauders Win

Melbourne, FL - The Marauders (16-15) and Manatees (14-16) traded five run innings in the first, then settled into a pitching focused struggle the rest of the way as Bradenton snagged a 7-6 series opening win at Space Coast Stadium on Monday night. RHP Felipe Gonzalez (W, 2-3) pitched 4 1/3 innings in relief of LHP Cody Dickson to earn the win.

RF Jose Osuna's three-run double highlighted Bradenton's five-run first inning against Javi Salas. Salas settled in after the first and made it through five innings for Brevard County.

Dickson was chased after facing nine batters in the first inning. Omar Garcia's RBI bunt single capped the night for the lefty, evening the game 5-5 in the process. Gonzalez came on and only allowed one runner past first through the fifth inning.

CF Austin Meadows drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth with a standup triple off Clint Terry (0-1) to plate 3B Wyatt Mathisen. Meadows scored on a wild pitch to stake Bradenton to a 7-5 lead.

RHP Clario Perez pitched scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh. RHP Isaac Sanchez allowed one run but stranded the tying run in the eighth. RHP Brett McKinney worked through the heart of the order in the ninth for his fifth save.

NOTES: The game began at 6:35 p.m. under partly cloudy skies, 84 degrees, wind blowing 7 mph from left to right... Eight of the nine Bradenton batters collected at least one hit with five collecting multi-hit games...
