
Early Runs Propel Osprey to a Friday Evening Win over Voyagers

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (23-24, 4-5) scored seven runs in the first three innings to defeat the Great Falls Voyagers (23-24, 1-8) 7-6 Friday from Ogren Park Allegiance Field. Missoula is now in a three- way tie for the best overall record in the North Division with Great Falls and the Helena Brewers.
With three hits in the first inning, Missoula tagged on two runs. Alek Thomas and Blaze Alexander began the inning with singles, and Zachery Almond double home a run while another scored on a passed ball to give the Osprey a 2-0 lead after one.
Great Falls pulled within a run in the top of the second on an Adam McGinnis solo home run off Edgar Martinez. Missoula tagged on two runs in the home half of the second as Blaze Alexander drove a sacrifice fly and a passed ball gave the Osprey a 4-2 lead.
In the top of the third, Great Falls scored on an RBI double from Logan Sowers to pull the game within 4-2 off Martinez. Missoula's offense went back to work, scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame. Brandon Leyton doubled home a run while Thomas singled home another. A Great Falls error scored the final run of the frame as they Osprey took a 7-2 lead.
Alex Destino led off the fourth for the Voyagers with a solo home run and a second run in the inning when Lenyn Sosa singled home Romy Gonzalez to make it a 7-4 game.
The Voyagers plated a run in the sixth when Amado Nunez singled home Sosa, who notched a two-out double. Great Falls pulled within one run in the eighth when Logan Sowers clobbered a solo home run, his seventh homer of the season, to squeeze the Osprey lead to one.
Bryan Menendez entered the game for the Osprey in the top of the ninth to close the game for his fifth save of the season. Trent Autry (1-1) earned his first win of the season after throwing 1.2 innings in relief for the Osprey. Konnor Pilkington (0-1) is pegged with the loss after allowing four earned runs in two innings.
Missoula hosts Great Falls Saturday for a 7:05 pm first pitch at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 6:45 pm on 102.9 ESPN Missoula and the MiLB First Pitch App.
