Early runs not enough in Sharks' loss

Wilmington Sharks News Release
The Wilmington Sharks posted two first inning runs on Saturday night, but did not push across another run over the final eight innings as they fell to the Morehead City Marlins 4-2 in Morehead City.
The Sharks fall to 4-7 with the loss while Morehead City improves to 6-6 with the win.
Jake Mayers finished the night 3-for-4 with an RBI and Kenny Bryant was 1-for-2 with an RBI single and two walks to lead Wilmington. Walks to both Justyn Carter and Daniel Aldrich in the top of the first allowed Mayers and Bryant to pick up back-to-back RBI singles to give Wilmington the early lead.
The lead would be shortlived, however, as Morehead City answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the first before plating two in the second and a final run in the third inning for all of the night's scoring.
Starter Chris Mazza (0-1) took the loss for the Sharks, allowing all four runs in 5-2/3 innings of work while Shawn Armstrong (1-0) tallied the win for the Marlins in five innings of work with six strikeouts in the battle of 2011 MLB Draftees.
The two teams will be back in action again in Morehead City on Sunday before the Sharks wrap up their road trip when they travel to Florence Monday night. The Sharks next home game will be Tuesday, June 14 when they host Thomasville.
