Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
Brodie Greene had two hits and scored twice, but the Hillcats dropped their fifth straight, 9-5. The Cats had a three-run lead after three, but Potomac came back for the second straight night.
Lynchburg jumped in front first this evening. Greene made his first career appearance from the leadoff spot and didn't disappoint. He led off the bottom of the first with a double, and advanced to third on Cody Puckett's single. Greene then scored on a passed ball.
The Nationals came back with two in the second. Mike Burgess led off with a home run. Then Tyler Moore doubled and later scored on the two-out single by Robby Jacobsen.
In the third, the Cats batted around. The first six batters reached, five on base hits. Greene led off with a single and Puckett was hit by a pitch. After a wild pitch advanced the runners to second and third, Neftali Soto drove in both with a single. Denis Phipps doubled to put runners at second and third again. Chris Richburg singled to score the Hillcats' fourth run of the inning. Richburg notched his 11th RBI in 12 games with Lynchburg and the Cats were up 5-2 after three.
Potomac wasn't finished, though, and the Nats scored in each of the next three innings. Moore doubled and scored in the fourth inning. Chris Curran doubled and scored in the fifth inning.
In the sixth, the P-Nats scored twice. With one out, Moore and Bill Rhinehart both walked, spelling the end of start Lance Janke. Andrew Bowman reliever him and gave up a game-tying double to Jose Lozada. Jacobsen drove in the go-ahead run with a groundout to put Potomac up 6-5.
The Nats put up three more runs in the eighth inning. Burgess singled and stole second base. Rhinehart walked and Lozada drove in Burgess from second. Jacobsen singled home Rhinehart, and Lozada scored on a passed ball.
Janke threw five and one-third innings and gave up six runs, all earned. He matched a season-high with five strikeouts, but he gets the loss. Bowman allowed the tying runs to score as inherited runners, and picks up a blown save. Jimmy Barthmaier gets the win and Cory VanAllen earns the save.
Lynchburg and Potomac conclude their series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Lynchburg throws recent call-up Justin Walker (0-0, 0.00) against Marcos Frias (4-5, 6.54).
