Montgomery Biscuits News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A two-out error in the second inning opened the door for four unearned runs against Kyle Lobstein, and the Jacksonville Suns (42-50/9-13) held off the Biscuits (49-41/13-9) 4-2 to avoid the sweep Friday at the Baseball Grounds.
With runners at first and second and two outs, Jeff Dominguez hit a ball to the hole at second that Tyler Bortnick botched, allowing Curt Smith to score from second. Jose Duarte would then double home a run, and Jake Smolinski capped the scoring with a two-run single.
Ty Morrison collected an RBI with a bases loaded groundout in the third, and Mayo Acosta clubbed his first home run of the season in the seventh to finish the scoring. The Biscuits left runners at first and second in the ninth against A.J. Ramos (10), going 1-for-10 on the night with runners in scoring position and stranding nine.
Lobstein (4-5) struck out six over six innings but suffered the loss with the four unearned runs. Suns starter James Leverton (1-0) picked up his first win, holding the Biscuits to a run over 4.1.
Acosta led the Biscuits with three hits. Hak-Ju Lee had a two-hit night, extending his on-base streak to 27 games.
