WEEK IN REVIEW

Wednesday, November 16 Eagles 5 vs. Wichita Thunder 4

The Eagles held on to win a wild one over the Wichita Thunder at the Budweiser Events Center. Eagles defenseman Matt Desrosiers scored the game winning goal with 3:10 remaining in the second period. Six total goals were scored in the second period tying an Eagles team record. Desrosiers finished with one goal and three assists, while Riley Nelson and Ryan Tobler had a goal and two assists each. Brad Williamson and Les Borsheim finished the scoring out for the Eagles who are now 2-1-0 against the Thunder this season.

Friday, November 18 Eagles 1 vs. Tulsa Oilers 5

Colorado notched the first goal at the 6:44 mark of the first period, but that would be all the offense they would get. Tulsa reeled off the next five goals including three in the third period to beat the Eagles for the first time in 10 attempts in a regular season game. The Eagles had won the previous nine regular season meetings dating back to their fourth game in team history. The Eagles now hold an all-time mark of 13-4-0 against the Oilers including the 4-1 playoff series last season.

Saturday, November 19 Eagles 2 vs. Tulsa Oilers 1 - Shootout

The Eagles edged the Oilers on Saturday night with a 2-1 shootout victory. Colorado out shot the Oilers 51-33, but couldn't get the puck passed goaltender Chris King who finished with 49 saves on 50 shots. Eagles goaltender, Paulo Colaiacovo, played very well in net saving 32 of 33 shots including all four of the Oilers shootout attempts. Riley Nelson earned the game-winning goal with his shootout goal, and Sean Robertson ended the game with his first shootout goal of the season.

WEEK AHEAD

Tuesday, November 22 Colorado Eagles at Fort Worth Brahmas 6:30 p.m. MST

Radio-KKPL-FM-99.9 The Point www.999thepoint.com The Eagles take on the Brahmas for the sixth time in team history on Tuesday night. Colorado has never lost to the Brahmas going 5-0-0 and outscoring Fort Worth 18-5 in those games. Last season, Colorado beat the Oilers behind good goaltending. The Eagles only gave up one goal in two games, and Paulo Colaiacovo recorded his first professional shutout against the Brahmas on January 22, 2005. The Brahmas are currently in second place in the Northeast Division, just two points behind the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.

Wednesday, November 23 Colorado Eagles at Oklahoma City Blazers 6:05 p.m. MST

Radio-KKPL-FM-99.9 The Point www.999thepoint.com The Eagles visit an unfamiliar arena in Oklahoma City on Wednesday night as they take on the Blazers at their former home, the Cox Convention Center. The teams are scheduled for eight games this season, although this will be the first contest. Colorado holds a 6-4-1 all-time record against the Blazers, but it is evident that the home team has the advantage in this series. Colorado is only 2-3-1 in Oklahoma City, where the Blazers have outscored the Eagles 16-11. The Eagles are 4-1 and have won the scoring battle 21-8 at the Budweiser Events Center.

Saturday, November 26 Colorado Eagles at Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 6:05 p.m. MST

Radio-KKPL-FM-99.9 The Point www.999thepoint.com www.chltv.com After Thanksgiving, the Eagles will travel to the CenturyTel Center for the third match up between the teams this season. The Mudbugs came to the BEC on November 3 and handed Colorado their worst home loss in team history by a score of 6-1. Colorado answered on November 5 and beat the ‘Bugs 5-3. Bossier-Shreveport is currently in first place in the Northeast Division with a 7-5-1 record and 15 points. The Eagles are 5-3-1 all-time against the Mudbugs, 2-1-0 at the CenturyTel Center.

Sunday, November 27 Colorado Eagles at Tulsa Oilers 1:00 p.m. MST

Radio-KKPL-FM-99.9 The Point www.999thepoint.com In their first Sunday game of the season, Colorado heads to Tulsa for their fourth road game in four different cities in six days. The Eagles take on the Oilers, who they split a pair of games with last week at the Budweiser Events Center. The Oilers beat Colorado 5-1 on Friday night, November 18, but again the Eagles bounced back and won the second game on November 19, 2-1 in a shootout. The teams will play six more times this season including Sunday's game.

STREAKS

There are no current streaks

PIM LEADER

The Eagles penalty minutes leader after 11 games is Captain Greg Pankewicz with 94 minutes. He set an Eagles record on Saturday night with seven minor penalties in the game against Tulsa. Pankewicz was the only Eagles player to record a penalty, and of the seven penalties, he was whistled for six different infractions.

TURNAROUND

The Eagles are 1-0 in overtime and 2-0 in shootouts after 11 games this season. The Eagles were in two shootouts and one overtime at the same point last season, but had lost all three games. The Eagles have already won more overtime/shootout games this season than last year's championship run where the team was 0-2 in shootouts and 1-5 in overtime, not winning in their first overtime until the 54th game of the season.

THE "CLOSER"

Eagles goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo has stopped 11 of 12 shootout attempts in two wins this season. He stopped all four attempts against the Tulsa Oilers last Saturday. Colaiacovo has been granted leave by the league to attend to family matters back home in Toronto. He will rejoin the Eagles on Friday in Bossier-Shreveport.

EMERGENCY GOALTENDER

Due to Colaiacovo's leave, the Eagles picked up emergency goaltender Rob Galatiuk. The Yorkton, Saskatchewan native played for Chris Stewart while in San Antonio where he was 20-10-3 under Coach Stewart.

COMPARISON

The Eagles are 8-3-0 with 16 points after 11 games this season. After 11 games last season, the Eagles had one less win, but one more point at 7-1-3 for 17 points. If the Eagles win against Fort Worth on Tuesday, they will be ahead of their championship pace from last season.

ROAD TRIPPIN'

Tuesday's game in Fort Worth starts a five-game road trip for the Eagles. The team has two such road trips this season, although this road trip is much more intense with five games in eight days, whereas the latter five-game road trip is broken up by the All-Star break. Colorado is currently 2-1-0 on the road this season and winners of their last two games away from the BEC.

BOUNCE BACK

Unfortunately, Colorado has suffered three of the biggest losses in team history this season, but the team has rebounded after every loss. The Eagles lost 8-3 to the Wichita but rebounded the following night with a 4-2 win over the Thunder. Same goes for the Bossier-Shreveport 6-1 loss; the Eagles bounced back against the ‘Bugs and won the following game 5-3. Finally, Colorado lost to the Oilers 5-1 at the BEC last Friday but again rebounded and beat the same Oilers 2-1 in a shootout the following night.

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

Colorado is 4-0 this season on Saturday nights.

Eagles on The Point- 99.9 FM The Point will broadcast all of the Eagles regular and post-season games this year. Every Eagles game is also streaming on the web at www.999thepoint.com.
