Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Wednesday that they signed defenseman Giffen Nyren for the 2015-16 season. The 6-foot, 195-pound blueliner posted 45 points in 50 games with the University of Calgary and has also seen action in 29 ECHL contests with the Utah Grizzlies, collecting 10 points and 57 penalty minutes during the 2010-11 season. Nyren has appeared in 15 AHL games, registering four points with the Abbotsford Heat in the 2010-11 campaign.
"I've heard really great things about the organization from guys I've had the chance to play with like Brock Nixon and Jacob DeSerres," said Nyren. "I'm just really excited to get to Colorado and start playing some high-level hockey this season."
The Calgary, Alberta native has played as both a defenseman and as a forward during his career and spent four seasons in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors, Kamloops Blazers and Calgary Hitmen. Nyren notched 125 points in 269 games at the major-junior level, including 28 goals. He also captured a WHL championship with the Hitmen in 2010.
Season tickets for the 2015-16 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $50 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468). The 2015-16 regular season home schedule kicks off on Friday, October 16th when the Eagles host the Utah Grizzlies. A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
