Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones have signed defenseman Cody Carlson for the 2015-2016 season. Carlson returns to the United States after playing last season in Europe.
"Cody is a solid, hard-nosed defenseman who has played and done well in the ECHL before," remarked Cyclones Head Coach Matt MacDonald. "He prides himself on being tough to play against and playing the game the right way. He will add experience along with physicality to our back end."
A native of Victoria, BC, Carlson skated in 44 games with Peiting EC in Germany last season, accounting for nine goals and 33 assists, for 42 points. He was also tied for third on the team with 60 penalty minutes.
The 24-year-old is no stranger to the ECHL, having split time with the Gwinnett Gladiators, Utah Grizzlies, and the now-defunct San Fransisco Bulls during the 2012-2013 season. In 43 games that season, Carlson accounted for five goals and 19 assists, for 24 points.
Prior turning pro, Carlson enjoyed a successful Major Junior career in the Western Hockey League, suiting up for the Medicine Hat Tigers, Regina Pats, and Prince George Cougars. In 305 WHL games over the course of six seasons, Carlson accounted for 25 goals and 110 assists for 135 points.
The countdown to the 2015-16 First Face-Off is underway! The Cyclones will return to U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday, October 17 when they host the Toledo Walleye at 7:30pm.
