Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Central Hockey League's Northern Conference champion Colorado Eagles announced today that they've signed goaltender Kyle McNulty, defenseman Patrick Dineen and forward Darren Delainey, inserting some youth into their lineup as they prepare to open camp in October. McNulty is classified as a developmental player. Both Dineen and Delainey will be rookies.
The signing of McNulty brings the number of goaltenders in camp to three and reunites Kevin McClelland with the Wakefield, R.I. native. McNulty (5-foot-11-inches, 178 pounds) played in four games last season for the Mississippi RiverKings, posting a 2.46 GAA and a .917 SV%. One of his two wins came against the Eagles. McNulty also played for the Muskegon Fury last season after playing the previous four years at Clarkson University where he posted a goals-against average under 3 for three seasons in a row.
Dineen, from Bohemia, N.Y., is a right-handed shooting defenseman with good size (6-foot, 190 pounds). He joins the roster after spending the past five years at NCAA schools (with one year lost due to transfer rules), the past three with the University of Massachusetts Amherst. A pre-med and accounting major, he brings with him a reputation as an intelligent and sportsmanlike player, having been recognized with numerous awards and All-Academic honors since high school.
Delainey (6-foot, 185 pounds) is a right-handed center from Battleford, Saskatchewan, who played the previous three seasons with his hometown team in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). In 149 career games with the North Stars, Delainey registered 86 points (30-56-86) and 287 PIMs. His offensive numbers grew each year, making a dramatic jump last season when he achieved career highs of 19 goals and 33 assists for 52 points - all of which at least doubled his numbers from the previous season.
The defending Northern Conference champion Colorado Eagles open the 2008-09 season with a home game against the expansion Rapid City Rush on October 17. Tickets for all home dates at the Budweiser Events Center will go on sale September 20 and can be purchased through the Budweiser Events Center box office, www.ComcastTix.com, 1-877-544-TIXX (8499), the Eagles' Office in Water Valley or through any ComcastTIX Outlet.
