Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release

HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL), in conjunction with Young Chefs Academy (YCA), will kick off the Killer Bees Kidz Club this Saturday, September 27 (2-4 p.m.), with a Birthday Bash celebrating the one year anniversary of YCA (6601 north 10th St., Suite A-9) in McAllen.

YCA is the nation's first national franchise offering culinary classes, mini-camps, and birthday parties geared toward kids ages 3-18. YCA's environment gives kids the opportunity to discover the significance of cooking while building self confidence and improving math, science, reading, social, and social studies (multicultural cuisine) skills.

Killer Bees players Travis Banga, Jesse Bennefield and Sir Sting-A-Lot will be on hand this Saturday to register kids for the Kidz Club and help decorate a huge birthday cake. The event is free and open to the public!

Membership is available in two tiers; Teal and Gold. The Teal membership is free and includes a monthly newsletter and a voucher for any Killer Bees home game. The Gold membership includes a Kidz Club T-shirt, invitation to a special Kidz Club Party with the Bees, discounts on monthly items at YCA and the Killer Bees Pro Shop, the opportunity to participate in on-ice intermission games, plus the chance to win Kid of the Game. The Kid of the Game will receive a special T-shirt and certificate from Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks.

The Gold membership is available this Saturday only for $15. Thereafter, the cost is $20.

Throughout the season the Killer Bees will participate in cooking classes at YCA. Kidz Club members get a discounted rate on those classes and the opportunity to see what YCA can offer while learning about the art of cooking with your favorite players in a relaxed environment.
