Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, CO – The Colorado Eagles have reassigned another member of the Hershey Bears, left wing Sergei Klyazmin Hershey is the top developmental team for the Colorado Avalanche.

Klyazmin, a third-round draft pick (92nd overall) for the Colorado Avalanche in 2000 is a 6'4", 200-pound power forward that has played sparingly in the past two seasons due to two season-ending knee injuries. Klyazmin played in just eight games for the Bears in 2002-03, and missed all of the 2003-04 season while recovering from the multiple injuries.

The Moscow, Russia native played for the Halifax Mooseheads in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for two seasons, scoring 61 points in each season. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in January of 2002 forcing him to miss the rest of the season. Klyazmin was the leading scorer for the Mooseheads prior to his injury, and still finished third on the team in scoring (24-37-61) despite playing in just 46 games. He tied the Mooseheads single-game record for most assists in a game with five on 11/15/01 against Quebec, and he was voted as the QMJHL's Rookie of the Month in November of 2000.

The 22 year-old forward joins right winger David Svagrovsky and goaltender Tyler Weiman as the third player to be assigned by the Bears, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. Both assigned players have contributed to the Eagles success thus far in the season. Weiman is 2-0 between the pipes, and leads the CHL with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .981 save percentage. Svagrovsky, the youngest player in the CHL at 19, had his first professional point with an assist on the Eagles game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory over the Memphis RiverKings.
