Bucks Drop Pair Over the Weekend

Laredo Bucks News Release


LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Bucks dropped a pair of games this past weekend. Friday the Bucks lost 5-3 in Rio Grande Valley to the Killer Bees. On Saturday the Bucks were defeated 1-0 at the LEC by the visiting San Angelo Saints. The Bucks are in Corpus Christi this coming Friday, then return home against Austin on Saturday. SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL

• The first 2,500 fans thru the doors at the LEC this Saturday, as the Laredo Bucks host the Austin Ice Bats, will receive a Bucks car flag courtesy of Time Warner Cable.

CORPUS CHRISTI RAYZ · This is the second of 12 meetings this year between the teams. The Bucks beat the Rayz 4-2 on October 23rd at the LEC. Bucks forward Jeff Bes had a hat trick in the victory. 2003-04: The Buck were 11-2-0 against the Rayz last year, including 7-0-0 at home. The Bucks outscored the Rayz 38-14 in those seven games. All-time the Bucks are 21-4-0 against Corpus, including 13-0-0 at the LEC and outscoring them 75-30 on home ice.

AUSTIN ICE BATS · This is the second of 11 meetings this year between the teams. Laredo beat Austin 6-2 at the Bat Cave on October 24th. Bucks forward Jeff Bes had a pair of goals in the win. 2003-04: The Bucks were 8-1-1 last year against Austin and outscored the Ice Bats 37-16. Laredo was 4-1-0 at the Bat Cave. All-time the Bucks are 11-8-1 against Austin, but 4-5-0 all-time at the Bat Cave.

MILESTONE DOWNER

· Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski coached his 600th professional game this past Saturday. The visiting San Angelo Saints spoiled the milestone game with a 1-0 shutout of the Bucks. Ruskowski is 305-242-53 in his coaching career.

FRANCHISE FIRST

· The Bucks were shutout 1-0 on Saturday night by the visiting San Angelo Saints. It was the first time in franchise history the Bucks have been blanked at home in the regular season.

DROPPING TWO IN A ROW

· Last year the Bucks did not suffer back-to-back regulation losses all season. This year the Bucks dropped the fourth and fifth game of the regular season in regulation time.

ON THE ROAD, NOW BACK HOME

· The Bucks played three of their first four games on the road. Now Laredo is in the midst of a stretch where they play eight of 11 at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks are 54-7-5 at home thru two plus seasons.

PACKED HOUSE

· Thru two games the Bucks have played before 15,022 total fans for an average of 7,511 per game. Laredo trails only Oklahoma City in CHL attendance. The Blazers average 8,383 fans per game.

WEEKEND FAN FRIENDLY SCHEDULE

· Thru the first two weekends of the regular season the Bucks have played games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Bucks will continue that trend this weekend with games on Friday and Saturday. The Bucks will not play on a weekday until Thursday, November 11th, against Bossier-Shreveport. 20 of the Bucks 30 home dates are on either a Friday or Saturday.

BUCKS WEEKLY GAME RECAPS

· 10/30/04 – SATURDAY – The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks were shutout 1-0 by the San Angelo Saints in front of 7,020 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center on Saturday night. Saints goalie Scott Reid, the 2003-04 CHL Goalie of the Year, was unbelievable stopping all 39 shots he faced to stymie the Bucks. Laredo is 2-3-0 on the season. Reid improved to 3-1-0 and recorded his first shutout of the year. Guerrera was very solid allowing just the one goal on 24 shots, but took the loss to drop to 1-3-0.

· 10/29/04 – FRIDAY – The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks dropped a 5-3 decision to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the Dodge Arena in front of 5,427 fans. Bees forward Matic Kralj had a pair of goals as did defenseman Jason Tessier. Bucks goalie David Guerrera allowed four Killer Bees goals on 30 shots and dropped to 1-2-0. Jeff Levy stopped 31 of 34 to get his first win.
