Eagles Erupt for 3 Quick Goals to Top Cats

Trailing 3-2 late in the second period, the hometown Cape Breton Eagles stunned the Wildcats scoring three goals in only 32 seconds to take a 5-3 lead. The third period proved scoreless and that was the final result Wednesday night at Centre 200 in Sydney.

Moncton goals to Caleb Desnoyers (13th) Alesh Zielinski (2nd) and Alex Mercier (14th). Julius Sumpf added two assists.

Moncton had 27 shots at Jakub Milota while the Eagles put 23 on Keegan Warren and Jacob Steinman, who came in to play the third period. It was the 6th meeting of the season between the clubs - each team now has three wins.

The Wildcats look to return to winning ways Friday night when they host the Gatineau Olympiques at Avenir Centre at 7pm. The Cats and Maritimes Division leader Mooseheads then swing into a weekend home-and-home affair - at Scotiabank Centre Sunday at 3pm and NB Family Day Monday at the Avenir with 2pm faceoff. Defenseman Etienne Morin returns to the Cats lineup this weekend after serving a one game suspension.
