Just over one minute into the first frame forward Luke Fulghum cashed-in on the first power play of the game to give Colorado the early 1-0 lead. Eagles forward Alex Hudson beat Wranglers netminder Mitch O'Keefe upstairs 14:47 into the first frame to double the Eagles score 2-0. Less than two minutes later Fulghum stuffed home his second puck of the night, five-hole, to pump the Eagles lead 3-0.
Colorado forward Jesse Mychan buried the puck on a two-on-one breakaway to put the Eagles ahead of the Wranglers 4-0 just over two minutes into the second period. Wranglers forward Geoff Paukovich beat Adam Brown for the first time 7:37 into the second to cut into the Eagles lead, 4-1. Forward Trent Daavettila pumped the Eagles lead to 5-1 with less than two minutes left in the second as he netted the puck top-shelf, over O'Keefe.
O'Keefe halted 24 of the 29 shots Colorado threw at him while Brown turned away 33 of the 35 Wrangler shots he faced in the contest to finalize the Eagles 5-2 win over Las Vegas.
