The opening goal came early for the Eagles, as after weathering some early Val-d'Or pressure MacDonald earned himself a breakway and beat Lussier glove side to start the scoring at 3:55. It was the only goal of the first period.

Roy's goal came on the power play in the middle stanza, getting a stick on a puck that went up and over Lussier. The play was looked at with a lengthy review, but the goal was upheld and the Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the third period. It was the first home ice power play goal for Cape Breton this season.

The Eagles locked up the win in the third period by allowing very few Foreur chances, as the teams only mustered six shots a piece in a final stanza that featured very few whistles. Val-d'Or earned a late power play and lifted Lussier for an extra attacker in the final two minutes but couldn't solve Ruccia.

The Eagles' home stand finishes on Sunday when the Eagles welcome former players Jérémy Langlois & FJ Buteau and their Rouyn-Noranda Huskies to Centre 200. It's Family Day at the Nest, as fans can purchase a youth ticket for $5 with the purchase of an adult ticket. Puck drop is at 3 PM. Tickets can be purchased at https://shorturl.at/fgluN They are also available for purchase in person at the Centre 200 box office and by the phone during box office hours at 902-564-2200
