Brandon Backe Takes the Mound Monday @ 7:05 PM Houston Astros right-hander Brandon Backe is scheduled to make a rehabilitation start for the Express tonight against the Memphis Redbirds. Backe, 31, was 9-14 with a 6.05 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 166 2/3 innings with Houston in 2008. Originally signed by Tampa Bay out of Galveston Community College in 1998, Backe was acquired in exchange for now-teammate Geoff Blum from Tampa Bay in 2003. Backe is 29-27 in 78 career starts with Houston. Backe has been on the Disabled List all season with a strained left intercostal muscle (chest) and has been available for activation since April.

After an off-day on Wednesday, the Round Rock Express heads to Albuquerque for a four-game series against the Isotopes, followed by four games against the Zephyrs in New Orleans. The team returns home on Friday, May 8 for Friday Fireworks presented by Bud Light.
