HOUSTON (Thursday, April 19, 2012) - The Houston Dynamo, Greenstar Recycling and BBVA Compass conducted a recycling drive at BBVA Compass Stadium today as part of its "Building a Better Planet" campaign.

For the campaign, Dynamo Charities collaborated with Greenstar Recycling and BBVA Compass to drive fans to bring their recyclables to BBVA Compass Stadium. Greenstar Recycling managed the public recycling drive at BBVA Compass Stadium, with Dynamo forward Brian Ching on hand to help with collection efforts.

In 2011, the Dynamo and Greenstar Recycling collected more than 20 tons of recyclables at various events. More items are expected to be recycled in 2012 with the BBVA Compass Stadium recycling plan and there will continue to be a collection area during the Greenstar Recycling SoccerFest held before every Dynamo home game. BBVA Compass is committed to having a positive impact on the environment and is implementing policies and systems to reduce its water and energy consumption.

BBVA Compass Stadium promises to be among the most sustainable stadiums ever built. Steps have begun for certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system with the United States Green Building Council to become the "greenest" stadium in Houston and one of the only LEED certified sports venues in Texas.
