Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Thursday, April 19, 2012) - Real Salt Lake today announced that the club has waived defender Diogo de Almeida.
In conjunction with the acquisition of defender Chris Estridge via trade with Vancouver Whitecaps FC last week, the recent swapping of outside backs keeps RSL's roster at the 26-player mark where it began the season. An updated RSL 2012 roster has been attached.
The 23-year-old de Almeida did not appear in any of Real Salt Lake's regular season contests this season, but did total 227 minutes of action while starting three of the Utah side's first four matches in MLS Reserve League play. RSL selected the Southern Methodist University product in the second round (24th overall) of this past January's 2012 MLS SuperDraft.
