Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC and Dynamo and Dash Charities will host an auction to benefit the Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) as part of Major League Soccer's Greener Goals initiative.
The auction will feature the One Planet jersey that was unveiled by Major League Soccer earlier today. Each jersey is made by adidas entirely out of Parley Ocean plastic collected from beaches and coastal communities. Each team will wear one of two variations of the jersey on Earth Day (April 22) for Match Day 9.
The Dynamo host Inter Miami on Saturday, April 22 and look to remain undefeated at home following three consecutive victories at Shell Energy Stadium. Fans can bid on game-worn jerseys from Saturday's match beginning on Thursday, April 20. To bid on a jersey or for additional information, click here.
The Club and Buffalo Bayou Partnership have collaborated on beautification projects since 2018. The BBP serves as one of the recurring nonprofits for the annual all-staff volunteer day each year in December. The work to keep the waterway free of debris and waste is part of the recently launched energy sustainability pillar, powered by Shell Energy. Fans, front office staff, coaches and players have volunteered to pull more than 8,500 invasive ragweed plants and over 1,000 feet of hillside at Buffalo Bayou since 2021.
The Buffalo Bayou Partnership was established in 1986 and dedicates their efforts to the redevelopment and stewardship of the bayou. The partnership completed the Buffalo Bayou Park project in 2015 and the $58 million initiative created a 160-acre greenspace that lies west of downtown. In addition to the league-wide initiative, the Club recently launched a collaboration with Shell Energy and One Tree Planted to donate 350 trees for each Dynamo and Dash victory this season. To date, the Club and Shell Energy will plant 1,400 trees at the end of the year. The program is part of a larger collaboration to reduce the Club's greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2026. Additional projects include the addition of on-site renewable energy to the stadium and the incorporation of energy monitoring and management with a sub-metering system.
