Dwight King Signs with the Kings for Two More Years

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, 2012 Stanley Cup Champions and parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have signed forward Dwight King to a two-year contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

King, 23 (turned 23 on July 5), collected 14 points (5-914), 10 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating in 27 regular season games this past season. He was recalled by the Kings from the Monarchs on February 10 after registering 29 points (11-1829), 20 penalty minutes and plus-6 rating in 50 AHL regular season games with Manchester. At the time of his recall, King was tied for second in points and second in assists on the Monarchs. King has totaled 45 goals, 62 assists and 107 points in 174 games with the Monarchs over the last three seasons.

King, a 6-foot-3, 234-pound native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, earned his first career NHL points (a goal and an assist) in his eighth career NHL game against the Dallas Stars on February 12.

During the Kings 2012 run to the Stanley Cup championship, King collected five goals, eight points (5-38), 13 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating. He ranked tied for first in goals scored during the post-season and tied for second in post-season game-winning goals scored (two) amongst rookies in 2012, and four of his five post-season goals were scored against the Phoenix Coyotes in the Western Conference Final series.

Originally selected by the Kings in the fourth-round (109th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, King has 14 points (5-914), 12 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in 33 career NHL regular season games - all with the Kings. He made his NHL debut with the Kings on November 17, 2010 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
