Aeros to Commemorate 40th Anniversary of First WHA Aeros Game
July 16, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release
HOUSTON --- The Houston Aeros, the American Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild, today announced five prime home dates for the 2012-13 season.
The home portion of the schedule will begin on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Toyota Center. That game will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first Aeros game played by the World Hockey Association (WHA) team in 1972.
"The name Aeros is synonomous with hockey in Houston," Aeros president David Burke said. "The game is more entrenched in the fabric of Houston than many people realize, and a big reason for that is the legacy left by the WHA Aeros. As the current version of the team begins its 19th season in the city, we are proud to commemorate the WHA's first game here 40 years ago."
The Aeros also confirmed home games on Saturday, Oct. 27; Friday, Nov. 30; Wednesday, Dec. 26, and Friday, Dec. 28.
Aeros season tickets start as low as $9 per seat and may be purchased online at Aeros.com.
Single-game tickets will go on sale at a date to be determined in October. The full schedule is expected to be released by early August.
