Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

With the Northwest League East Division pennant race just beginning to heat up, the Tri-City Dust Devils picked up a big win Wednesday night 1-0 over the Vancouver Canadians. It was the fourth straight home win for the Dust Devils, who improve to 20-29 on the year, just three games behind Northwest League East Division-leading Boise.

The story Wednesday night was Tri-City pitching, led by starter Bruce Billings. Billings (3-2) helped orchestrate the shutout with 5 2/3 electric innings of work, giving up four hits and striking out three. Craig Rodriguez followed with 1 1/3 perfect innings, while Agustin Arias and Riquy Pena threw the eighth and ninth, with Pena earning his ninth save.

Darin Holcomb led the Tri-City offense with a 3 for 4 night and drove in Brian Rike in the fourth for the game's only run.

Vancouver starter Inoel Deaza (3-4) took the loss after giving up just one run on five hits in six innings pitched.

The five game series continues with game two Thursday night. As always, 12 ounce Budweiser products will be on sale for just $1 on "Thirsty Thursday."

Tickets can be purchased at the Dust Devils box office, by phone at 544-8789, online at HYPERLINK www.dustdevilsbaseball.com www.dustdevilsbaseball.com, and at all TicketsWest outlets. Season tickets, mini-plans, and group tickets are also available at the box office and over the phone.
