Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils shut out the Hillsboro Hops 9-0 Friday night at Gesa Stadium. The Dust Devils (3-2 2nd Half, 25-18 Overall) had more than enough runs as their pitching led the way in shutting down Hillsboro (2-3 2nd Half, 24-19 Overall). The shutout was the first for Tri-City in 2015. With the win the Dust Devils are all alone with the best overall record in the Northwest League.
Austin Allen had a night he'll remember for Tri-City, getting his first home run as a professional. All-Star Peter Van Gansen had three hits on the night. Ty France continued his hot hitting with two RBIs in the game. Jose Carlos Urena and Mason Smith added to the winning effort with two RBIs as well. Carlos Belen had a good game with two hits and an RBI.
Alexis Olmeda had two hits for Hillsboro. Fernery Ozuna and Nate Robertson were notable hitters as well for the Hops, with a double apiece in the game. Hillsboro had seven hits on the night and at least one runner on base in every inning except the ninth but was still unable to score a run.
Tri-City starting pitcher Angel Mejia (2-2) got the win, pitching six innings. Mejia gave up six hits and dropped his season ERA down to 6.21.
All-Star starting pitcher, Jared Miller (7-2) pitched five innings in the loss for Hillsboro. Miller gave up three runs on five hits while striking out five batters.
