Dust Devils Salvage Series Finale With 6-2 Win Over C's

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - With the brooms out and the chance to sweep Tri-City aside, pitcher Angel Mejia went five solid innings to help the Dust Devils top Vancouver 6-2 in the finale of a three-game series out at sold out Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.

The Dust Devils opened the scoring for the first time in the series. LF Jose Carlos Urena and 2B Kodie Tidwell both came in to score in the top of the 2nd inning, lifting the Dust Devils to an early 2-0 lead over the Canadians. It would be a lead that would not relinquished for the duration of the game.

RF Sean Hurley struck out swinging in the bottom of the 4th inning but a wild pitch from RHP Angel Mejia allowed Hurley to reach base. Shortly after, a ground out off the bat of DH Josh Reavis allowed Hurley to score pulling the Canadians to within a pair of runs.

Tri-City would pull away for good with a run in the top of the 5th inning followed by a pair of runs in the top of the 6th.

C Ryan Hissey scored the Canadians second and final run of the day on a double from Sean Hurley in the bottom of the 8th inning making the final 6-2.

Canadians starter RHP Jon Harris went 2.0 innings allowing two runs on three hits before being replaced by LHP Bob Wheatley who pitched one complete inning surrendering one run on two hits.

LHP Angel Perdomo made his first appearance at Nat Bailey Stadium in his second game as a Canadian. Perdomo struck out seven batters in his three innings of work, but allowed three runs on four hits. LHP Michael Kraft replaced Perdomo to close out the game, and was the only Canadians pitcher not to allow a run.

Dust Devils starting pitcher Angel Mejia improved to 3-3, Jon Harris dropped to 0-4.

RHP Josh Degraaf will get the start for the Canadians on Thursday, August 20th for the first of three games at Avista Stadium in Spokane, WA. First pitch is at 6:30 pm, you can listen live at www.canadiansbaseball.com.

Notes: Ryan Metzler extends his hitting streak to 11 games... Dust Devils 3B Nick Vilter hit his first homerun of his professional career... With the loss the Canadians drop to 10-11 (.476) on the second half... The Canadians sell out was the 14th of the season in Vancouver bringing the total fans to 167,431 fans through 29 openings.
