November 21, 2006 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE, WI (November 21, 2006) - The Major Indoor Soccer League announced today that Milwaukee Wave defender, Troy Dusosky, has been named the league's Defensive Player of the Week. Dusosky's award marks the second time he has been named Defensive Player of the Week in the first month of MISL 2006-07 action. November has proven to be a strong month for the Wave defender, as coincidentally, Dusosky was awarded the honor this same week during 2005-06. Dusosky is certain to be a strong contender for the MISL's Defender of the Month honors awarded in early December.
The twelve-year MISL veteran has consistently proven his defensive aptitude and once again in this, the sixth year of his Milwaukee Wave tenure, Dusosky also proved he shines on the attack. He currently is second on the team in points with 11 in three games (Todd Dusosky leads with 13) and second in shots on goal with 17 (Greg Howes leads with 22). Dusosky displayed this well-rounded prowess in the November 18th home Wave victory over the California Cougars connecting to score two, 2-point goals in the third quarter and offering an assist on a Marcelo Fontana goal in the fourth quarter.
In a display of defensive dexterity, Dusosky entered the game as goalie late in the third quarter after a tripping penalty was issued to goalie Nick Vorberg, proceeding to foil the MISL's leading scorer, forward Vincente Figuero in a rare shootout stop. Dusosky maintained a clear net while he tended the goal. In three games played, Dusosky holds second in blocks with three to Lovelace Ackah's four tallied blocks.
"I thought Troy was very deserving of this week's award," said VP of Soccer Operations and Wave Head Coach Keith Tozer. "He organized our defense, scored some points on offense and stopped a shootout." The four-time MISL All-Star has played in 318 regular season games and scored his 117th goal on Saturday. In 2005-06 Dusosky contributed eight goals, nine assists and 25 blocks in 25 games played.
The MISL also named their Goalkeeper and Offensive Players of the Week on Monday. The Baltimore Blast's Sagu was named Goalkeeper of the Week by only allowing two goals against the previously undefeated Detroit Ignition. The California Cougars' Vicente Figueroa was named Offensive Player of the Week after tallying a hat trick against the Wave on November 18. Figueroa leads the league in points with 16 in four games played.
Milwaukee heads south to Chicago to face the Storm Sunday at 5:05pm CST at the Sears Centre located in Hoffman Estates. Milwaukee then returns home to face the 2005-06 MISL Champion Baltimore Blast on Friday December 1st, 7:05pm kick-off at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
All games are broadcast on WISN AM 1130 and can be heard via webcast at www.milwaukeewave.com. Tickets for all home games are available through the Milwaukee Wave front office at 414.224.WAVE or through Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
