Baltimore Blast News Release

Blast Improves to 2-1 after 11-5 win over Detroit:

The Blast advanced to 2-1 on the season with an 11-5 victory over the visiting Detroit Ignition Friday night. P.J. Wakefield and David Bascome scored early to give Baltimore a 4-0 lead. After missing the first two games of the season, Machel Millwood made his return to the playing field and assisted the first two goals of the game and went on to score a goal in the fourth quarter to put the Blast ahead, 8-5. Robbie Aristodemo knocked in the Blast's first three-point goal of the season to clinch the 11-5 victory.

Sagu Named MISL Goalkeeper of the Week:

Blast goalkeeper Sagu was named MISL Goalkeeper of the Week after his 11-5 win over the Detroit Ignition Friday night. Sagu, a five-year veteran of the MISL, gave up just two goals in the game and turned away 14 of the 16 shots he faced. Sagu also recorded the assist on Machel Millwood's fourth-quarter goal. After three games, he leads the MISL in save percentage (.769), and ranks third in the League in saves (40). This is Sagu's third Player of the Week selection in his three seasons with the Blast and the eighth Goalkeeper of the Week selection of his five-year career.

California's Vicente Figueroa was named MISL Offensive Player of the Week and Milwaukee's Troy Dusosky was named MISL Defensive Player of the Week.

Lee Tschantret on Pace to Record his 1,000th Point:

Forward Lee Tschantret will become the 15th player in League history to record 1,000 points in his career. Tschantret, a 16-year veteran of professional indoor soccer, has 990 points heading into next weekend's home-and-home series with the Milwaukee Wave. Tschantret has one goal (two points) in three games so far this season.

Blast assistant coach and midfielder David Bascome was the last player in the League to record the 1,000th point of his career when he did so last season.

Baltimore vs. Milwaukee:

The Blast (2-1) are off this weekend and will play a home-and-home series against the Milwaukee Wave, starting December 1st in Milwaukee and finishing on the 2nd in Baltimore. The Blast and Wave have the most heated rivalry in the MISL and have faced each other in the postseason in four of the last five seasons. Last season, the Wave went 4-2 against the Blast in the regular season but the Blast won the MISL Semifinals series, two-games-to-one to advance to the MISL Championship Series against the St. Louis Steamers.
