Duplissie's Blast Powers Pride over Sussex, 5-3

NASHUA, NH, May 30, 2007) Bryan Duplissie's three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted the Nashua Pride (3-3) to a 5-3 triumph over the Sussex Skyhawks (1-5) in front of 1,531 fans Wednesday night at Historic Holman Stadium.

Duplisse, of East Swanzey, New Hampshire, greeted relief pitcher Mike Hartung with a long blast which reached the left field scoreboard and lifted the Pride to a 4-2 lead. It was Duplissie's second home run in as many nights. Jose Velazquez added a pair of RBI for Nashua.

Pride starter Tim Bausher (1-1) went six innings to earn the win. The former Boston Red Sox farmhand scattered five hits, walking two and striking out eight. Relievers Angelo Burrows and Lance Stevens each worked an inning of scoreless relief for the Pride before Nashua closer "El Guapo" ,Rich Garces, worked a perfect ninth inning for the second consecutive night to post his second save.

Sussex starter Tim Tisch (0-2) was charged with the loss as he put the tying and winning runs on base prior to leaving the game in favor of Hartung.

The Pride and the Skyhawks will conclude this three game series Thursday evening at 7:05 at Historic Holman Stadium. The defending Can-Am League pitcher of the week Akira Okamoto (0-0) will pitch for Nashua with Edisbel Benitez (1-0) scheduled for Sussex in a battle of righthanders. The first 1,250 fans through the gates will receive mouse pads courtesy of Costco and Rich Garces will be signing free autographs on the concourse between 6:00-6:45 PM.
