Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays charity bowling event took place Saturday morning, June 26th, at the Dunedin Lanes. The D-Jays players and coaching staff joined local sponsors and bowling teams to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay. All 24 lanes were sponsored and the event was completely sold out, which provided a fun atmosphere of friendly competition.
Every team bowled two games, with the best bowler in three individual categories receiving an autographed bowling pin signed by the entire Dunedin Blue Jays team. The best teams in game 1 and 2 were given two tickets per team member for the Toronto Blue Jays spring training 2015 home opener.
The 50/50 raffle netted over $600 and the winner graciously donated her half right back to the charity. The D-Jays players and coaches had a great time mingling throughout the event and even went so far as to promote items bearing their signatures and pieces of hand-painted artwork they had created earlier in the month. There was good-natured competition among the players, with pitcher Griffin Murphy's one-of-a-kind plate receiving the highest bid among the player artwork.
The event was sponsored by Achieva Credit Union and lunch was provided by Smokey Bones in Clearwater. The proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay.
At Saturday night's Dunedin Blue Jays game, the D-Jays presented a check for $5,163.94 to the Ronald McDonald House. Another donation came in following the evening's 50/50 raffle, bringing the overall total to $5,203.94.
