Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

PEARL, Miss. - The Miami Marlins announced a series of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster prior to tonight's game against the Mississippi Braves at Trustmark Park at 8:00 p.m. eastern.

Shortstop Joe Dunand has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Dunand played in 66 games for the Hammerheads, hitting .263 with seven home runs and 42 runs batted in. At the time of his promotion, Dunand ranked first in the Florida State League in games played (66) and fifth in RBI (42). Dunand, 22, is regarded by MLB.com as Miami's No. 16 prospect, and was selected by the Marlins in the second round of the 2017 draft from N.C. State. Dunand is the nephew of 14-time All-Star and three-time American League Most Valuable Player Alex Rodriguez, currently a color analyst on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. Rodriguez also played for Jacksonville in 1994.

In a corresponding move, infielder Luis Pintor has been transferred from Jacksonville to High-A Jupiter. Pintor played in 10 games for Jacksonville, hitting .048 (1-for-21) with a run batted in.

Additionally, infielder J.C. Millan has been transferred from Single-A Greensboro to Jacksonville. Millan had played in 25 games for the Grasshoppers, hitting .224 with two home runs and six runs batted in. This is the first call-up to the Double-A level in Millan's career, although he did play in three games earlier this season for Triple-A New Orleans.

Additionally, left-handed pitcher Jeff Kinley has been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. Kinley was a 2018 Southern League Midseason All-Star for the Jumbo Shrimp, going 3-1 with a 2.43 ERA and two saves in 23 appearances out of Jacksonville's bullpen.

In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Jeff Brigham has returned from his minor league rehab assignment and reinstated from Jacksonville's disabled list to the active roster. Brigham had made one start for the GCL Marlins on Monday June 18, working five scoreless innings where he allowed two hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Brigham started the season with Jacksonville, going 4-0 with a 0.45 ERA (one earned run in 20 innings) before he was placed on the disabled list on April 27 with a right oblique strain. Brigham had been honored by the Southern League as the Pitcher of the Week for April 5-15 when he was 2-0 with 18 strikeouts in 10 scoreless innings.

The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players, and a revised roster is attached.

The Jumbo Shrimp and Braves will continue their series with the second game of the five-game series on Friday night at Trustmark Park at 8 p.m. eastern. Jacksonville right-hander Max Duval (1-6, 6.53 ERA) will start for the Jumbo Shrimp against Mississippi right-hander Bryse Wilson (1-4, 5.90 ERA). Fans can listen to Thursday's game on the Jumbo Shrimp Network presented by Community First, beginning at 7:45 p.m. eastern with the pregame show "Shrimp On Deck" locally on Sunny 102.3 FM, on the TuneIn Radio app, and www.jaxshrimp.com.

The Jumbo Shrimp return home Thursday, June 28, to begin a six-game series with the Montgomery Biscuits on Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, with $1 12-oz. and $2 24-oz. beers at select locations, plus $1 sodas at the main concession stands. The game is Teacher Appreciation Night.
