RHP Santiago to Triple-A Gwinnett, LHP Pike activated from DL

PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster moves affecting the M-Braves roster prior to tonight's 7:00 pm game against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Trustmark Park. RHP Andres Santiago has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett and LHP Tyler Pike has been activated from the Mississippi DL.

Santiago, 28, was 4-2 with a 3.55 ERA (20 ER/50.2 IP) with 40 strikeouts and just six walks in nine games, eight starts for the M-Braves this season. The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native has combined to go 5-4 with a 3.53 ERA (31 ER/79.0 IP) with 60 strikeouts and 16 walks in 15 games, 12 starts between Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett.

Signed by the Braves as a minor-league free agent on March 14, 2017, Santiago has appeared in 205 minor league games over his career and has a 45-51 record with a 4.54 ERA. Santiago was originally signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 21, 2009, and made his Southern League debut for the Chattanooga Lookouts in 2012.

Pike, 24, has appeared in six games this season for the M-Braves going 0-1 with a 1.08 ERA (1 ER/8.1 IP), fanning 10 and walking 13. His six relief outings this season are the first in his professional career, making 140 starts from 2012-2017. Pike was acquired by the Braves as the player to be named later from the Seattle Mariners on December 9, 2016, completing a trade in which Atlanta received current M-Brave catcher Alex Jackson from Seattle in exchange for RHP Rob Whalen and RHP Max Povse on November 28, 2016.

The Winter Haven, FL native spent his first season in the Atlanta organization between High-A Florida and Double-A Mississippi, combining to go 5-11 with a 3.43 ERA (55 ER/144.1 IP) and 154 strikeouts. Pike ended the season in the Top 10 among Braves farmhands (min. 75.0 IP) in strikeouts (2nd, 154), innings pitched (4th, 144.1) and starters' ERA (9th, 3.43). Pike was originally a third-round selection by the Seattle Mariners in the 2012 draft out of Winter Haven HS (FL). He made his Double-A debut in 2014 with the Jackson Generals (SEA).

Pike was placed on the disabled list on May 8.

The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 25 active players and four on the DL.
