New Britain answered quickly in the bottom half of the frame with five runs of their own. Jamar Walton started the comeback with a two-run home run off Ducks starter Chris Pike. Vinny Siena followed with an RBI double, then a Deibinson Romero sacrifice fly brought the Bees within one. Jason Rogers tied the game at five with a two-out single.

The Bees took the lead in the sixth after an RBI double by Jonathan Galvez and an RBI single from Darren Ford. The Ducks were unable to cut into the lead from that point.

Simon (8-6) picked up the win, lasting seven innings despite allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out eight. Dennis O'Grady (5-3) took the loss, conceding two runs in the sixth inning. Evan Scribner earned his 20th save with a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two.
