
Ducks Sign DiNardo and Buzachero

(Central Islip, N.Y., April 14, 2011) - The Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of pitchers Lenny DiNardo and Ed Buzachero. DiNardo enters his first campaign with the Ducks while Buzachero begins his second season on Long Island.
"We are excited to have both Lenny and Ed on our ball club," says Ducks manager Kevin Baez. "Both pitchers will be extremely valuable to our pitching staff."
DiNardo enters his 11th season of professional baseball in 2011. He has spent parts of six seasons in the Major Leagues with the Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, and Kansas City Royals. In 94 career big league games (34 starts), the southpaw has a record of 10-18 with a 5.36 ERA.
The Miami native spent most of the 2010 season with Triple-A Sacramento in the Athletics organization, posting a record of 2-5 with a 3.40 ERA in 10 games (nine starts). The 31-year-old has logged 150 games (121 starts) over his minor league career, compiling a record of 35-37 with a 3.71 ERA and nearly 600 strikeouts. DiNardo was originally drafted by the New York Mets in the third round of the 2001 amateur draft.
Buzachero enters his 10th season of professional baseball in 2011. His first tour of duty with the Ducks came in 2009, when he appeared in three games, allowing no runs in three and one-third innings pitched. He was then signed by Toronto Blue Jays organization and went on to go 5-4 with a 2.49 ERA in 49 games between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Las Vegas that season.
The Tennessee Native split time last season with Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Las Vegas in the Blue Jays organization, as well as Double-A Corpus Christi in the Houston Astros system. Overall, he posted a record of 8-1 in 39 games (three starts) with 56 strikeouts. For his minor league career, the 29-year-old has compiled a 38-29 record, a 3.74 ERA, and 70 saves in 392 games. Buzachero was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 23rd round of the 2002 MLB amateur draft.
