September 4, 2007 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 4, 2007) - The Long Island Ducks cruised past the Road Warriors on Tuesday 6-1 in front of a sellout crowd of 6,025 at Citibank Park.
The Ducks offense did more than enough to back up starter Lance Davis (8-4), who threw six innings of shutout ball, giving up just five hits and striking out three. Ben Grezlovski delivered two solid relief innings and Joe Valentine struck out the side in the ninth to punctuate a dominating victory of the league's travelling team. Damien Myers (4-13) took the loss for the Road Warriors, allowing five runs and eight hits over five innings.
Long Island grabbed the lead right away, with Ray Navarrete scoring in the first on an RBI single by Carl Everett. The base hit signified a milestone for Everett, who tied the franchise single-season RBI record at 91. Everett would also double and score later in the ballgame. Bryant Nelson doubled the Ducks' advantage in the third with a solo home run, and Navarrete doubled that lead in the fourth with a two-run shot. Kevin Haverbusch drove in the final two Long Island runs with an RBI double in the fifth and a run-scoring single in the seventh.
