
Ducks fall to Griffins in shootout

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- Todd Robinson scored the deciding goal in the shootout to lift the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks Sunday at Van Andel Arena.
Derek Meech scored a power-play goal 10:14 into the second period to provide the Griffins with a 1-0 lead. The Ducks tied it on a goal by Michael Holmqvist with 33 seconds remaining in the third period.
Drew MacIntyre stopped 26 shots in the win for the Griffins, who are 3-0-0-0 against Cincinnati this season, including a pair of shootout wins.
Mike Ayers made his second consecutive start for Cincinnati after being called up Saturday from ECHL Dayton and stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced, including 26 shots over the final two periods and overtime.
The Ducks, who have lost a franchise-record eight straight road games, play Tuesday in Manitoba.
