Ducks Drop Doubleheader

(Camden, N.J., June 19, 2013) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Camden Riversharks 6-5 in both games of a doubleheader on Wednesday night at Campbell's Field.

Camden started the scoring in the first inning of game one when Raul Padron hit a two-run home run to right field. Long Island answered in the fourth inning, when Bill Hall drove in a run with a double, and Bryant Nelson hit a two-run homer to right.

The Riversharks retook the lead in the fifth inning, when D'Angelo Jimenez pulled a two-run single down the right field line. Nelson put the Ducks back on top with a two-run single in the sixth. In the bottom of the inning, Dionys Cesar scored on a double play to tie the ballgame. It remained tied until the ninth when Wilson Valdez hit a walk-off single to center.

Riversharks reliever Adrian Martin (2-2) picked up the win in game one, throwing a scoreless ninth inning. Long Island reliever Ian Snell (0-1) took the loss, giving up one run on one hit.

In game two, the Ducks struck first, with a Nelson RBI double in the first inning. Juan Martinez put Camden on top in the fourth inning with a two run single. Long Island scored two in the fifth inning to take the lead back. Joash Brodin hit a RBI single, and Josh Barfield had a RBI double.

Both teams scored single runs in the sixth inning, and Brodin led off the top of the seventh with a solo home run. Jimenez stroked a three-run home run to right to give the Riversharks a walk-off win.

Andrew Johnston (3-1) picked up the win out of the bullpen, throwing two and two-thirds innings of five-hit, two-run ball. Leo Rosales (1-2) suffered the loss, giving up three runs on three hits in the ninth.

The Ducks return to Bethpage Ballpark on Friday, June 21 to open a three-game weekend set with the Sugar Land Skeeters.
