Drive Throw Third No-Hitter in Franchise History

Asheville, NC - The Greenville Drive made history on Thursday night in Asheville, as Enmanuel De Jesus, Devon Fisher and Durbin Feltman combined to throw a no-hitter in a 5-1 defeat of the Asheville Tourists.

This is the Drive's third no-hitter in franchise history, and the second in a nine-inning game. Mickey Pena, Hunter Cervenka and Tyler Lockwood combined to no-hit the Rome Braves on May 8th, 2012 at Fluor Field, and Daniel Bard and Ryan Phillips combined on a rain-shortened six-inning no hitter against the Kannapolis Intimidators on June 11th, 2007.

De Jesus (4-2) put together a herculean effort in his start on Thursday, as the southpaw took a perfect game into the eighth inning before allowing a hit by pitch with one out. He allowed just one unearned run with five strikeouts. Fisher entered with two outs in the eighth and retired the lone batter he faced, while Feltman fired a perfect ninth with two strikeouts to complete the no-hitter.

The Drive (16-11, 41-55) offense was powered by three homers in the victory. Tanner Nishioka got Greenville on the board in the top of the third with a solo shot, his fourth of the year, off Nick Kennedy (2-10).

In the top of the fourth, Garrett Benge began the frame with a single and moved to third on a double by Pedro Castellanos. Victor Acosta followed with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 2-0.

That lead went to 5-0 after a three-run sixth that included back-to-back solo homers by Marino Campana and Benge, as well as an RBI single by Samuel Miranda. Campana's home run was his 15th of the year, which ranks fifth in the South Atlantic League.

After the hit-by-pitch in the eighth, Asheville managed to plate the runner thanks to a wild pitch and a pair of Drive hitters that managed to keep the no-hitter intact.

Benge, Campana, Castellanos and Everlouis Lozada all picked up two hits for Greenville in the game.

The Drive will look to take game two of the four-game series on Friday night in Asheville at 7:05. Left-hander Jhonathan Diaz (6-5, 3.43) takes the mound for Greenville, and the Tourists will start right-hander Garrett Schilling (4-3, 3.55).
