Greenville Drive News Release

The Greenville Drive (7-9) couldn't get anything going offensively on Friday night, as they mustered just two hits in an 8-0 loss against the Lexington Legends (6-10). The Legends scored the only run they would need in the bottom of the first against Drive starter Cody Kukuk (1-2) as Cameron Gallagher's sacrifice fly to right field scored Humberto Arteaga. Lexington put the game out of reach in the fourth inning with six more runs. Two Drive errors led to the first two runs of the frame, which knocked Kukuk out of the game. The big inning continued against JB Wendelken, as Raul Mondesi's ground-rule double drove in a pair, and after Wendelken recorded the second out of the inning, back-to-back doubles by Bubba Starling and Gallagher brought in two more runs. The Legends added their final run of the evening in the fifth inning, as Ethan Chapman's double to left field scored Fred Ford, who singled to lead off the frame. Ford picked up two hits for Lexington, while Mondesi and Gallagher drove in two runs apiece. Jayson Hernandez and Boss Moanaroa collected the only two hits of the evening for Greenville. These two teams will meet again in Lexington tomorrow night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. RHP Justin Haley (0-1, 3.48) will take the mound for the Drive, while LHP Daniel Stumpf (1-0, 0.00) draws the start for the Legends.
